Sanctuary Spa Hot Sugar Scrub.

Tuesday, March 03, 2015

I was lucky enough to spend a day at the Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden when it was open, (still not over the closure *cry*) and one of the first things I remember experiencing when I arrived was the amazing scent the place had. If any spa should have an aroma, this was the one!

I am yet to find a spa that delivers in all the ways that Sanctuary Spa did - so if you have any suggestions please let me know!

Not only was the spa brilliant - relaxing, refreshing, calming - I could go on… they had an amazing array of their products available in the changing rooms/shower areas for guests to use. I remember trying as many of them as I could and thinking how luscious they smelt - like a spa in a bottle!

Fast forward a few years and I have since bought a few of their travel sized products to take away on holiday with me. Again all smelt lovely and left my skin feeling relaxed and always sent me off to a good night’s sleep!

So onto the Hot Sugar Scrub.
I bought this item as it was part of an offer at Boots, you know the score - spend over a certain amount, get something free! As I was buying gifts for a friend, I thought I’d make the most of the offer and try something I haven’t before. I was pleasantly surprised. It retails for about £12 so it's a good price for the amount of product you get.

The product has the amazing iconic Sanctuary Spa scent which I personally love - it takes me back to my memory of the spa every time! But what I love most about this product is the thermal zeolite properties that give off a warming sensation once you start to massage it onto damp skin. It feels a little strange at first and you think how hot is this actually going to get! But it soon fades and you’re left with the creamy scrub which buffs away dead skin. It also has Kaolin clay in it which is a naturally occurring soft clay that helps draw out impurities, so it really does feel like a deep skin cleanse.

The end results are soft smooth skin with a great refreshing scent, I felt detoxified and relaxed and my skin felt nourished. It’s a great once a week treat, or if you’re in need of a skin pick-me-up.

Tip: I decided to decant mine into a smaller pot so it’s much easier when I’m in the shower: stops me dripping water into the entire tub of product!

Have you got any recommendations on a similar scrub?

  1. I love the Sanctuary bath products ... when I had surgery a few years ago, my manager put together a little care package for me, including a lotion and scrub from Sanctuary. I loved the scent and it was perfect for when I was recuperating at home! Always brings back great memories (not of going into hospital!) of relaxation. I'm so sad that the spa is gone! I loved it.
