Beautifully Lost Weekend - Renegade Craft Fair

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Last weekend I was in the mood to wander around a food market in London. Then the rain came down...

Luckily for me Jamie of Angloyankophile suggested the Renegade Craft Fair (an indoor event!) that was taking place at the Truman Brewery that weekend, and I just knew I had to go and check it out!

The room was full a whole host of inspiring creative businesses. From brilliantly illustrated stationery  to beautifully constructed terrariums. I was in craft heaven! I have always, always loved art and crafts; just check out my Pinterest boards if you need proof! I have also always regretted not following my heart and working in a more creative industry. But hey, it's one of the reasons I started this blog!

As I walked around the room, I caught glimpses of handmade jewellery, notebooks, illustrations, hand crafted ornaments and so much more. My head was dizzy with all the beautiful work on show! I walked up to every stand in the room and thoroughly studied their little masterpieces. There were a few favourites on the day for me. The first was Lili Price Studio, a really sweet girl with a great talent. Graphic Designer and Illustrator Lili, creates the sweetest illustrations which are then printed on phone cases, notebooks and wrapping paper. I spoke to her briefly about her work and she explained that she just loves to draw! She really enjoys what she does, and it speaks through the great items she produces.

I also really liked Pygmy Cloud. They had the cutest bits and bobs and the stand was so creative and welcoming. The theme is clouds, and it's adorable! Its so fun and playful I loved it all, from the stationery to the little cloud coasters. They even had a cloud shaped coffee table - ahhh so cute!

My favourite though was definitely the work by Sarah Louise Matthews. With a warm welcoming smile she stood behind her stand which showcased her beautiful work. Her handmade paper stationery, decorations and artwork were really inspiring (sadly I didn't manage to get a photo - but check out her work online!). It was so creatively unique from all the other stands in the place. The geometric and contemporary designs work wonderfully with the paper. I loved the little paper house decorations. What is most inspiring though is that she works a full 9-5 job and creates all her work in her free time! Really great work and I definitely recommend taking a look at it, you won't be disappointed!

A very inspiring day, which left me walking away with a great appreciation to everyone's passion and art. It was definitely well worth the visit which I recommend to all fellow craft lovers. Next, I hope to visit the Renegade Craft Fair in New York!
